Hello! My name is Dr. Jessica Torrecillas (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, located in the San Francisco Bay Area of California.
In my practice I provide individual and group therapy to help move you through difficult transitions, painful patterns, and stuck places. Whether you are dealing with a major life event or something that has been gnawing at you for a while, there is no issue "too big" or "too small" to address in therapy. I am here to provide the safe and supportive space you need wherever you are on your journey.
Starting therapy can daunting, which is why I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation before scheduling our first appointment. On the consultation call, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and I can answer any questions you have about the therapy process. From there we can mutually decide to schedule an appointment to begin therapy. Looking forward to connecting with you!
Please note that my practice is currently Telehealth (video or phone sessions) only.
Specializing in Anxiety, Trauma, and Relational Issues
Anxiety & Panic
Experiencing anxiety is a normal part of being a human being. However, if you find that your life is consistently disrupted by uncontrollable worry, constantly feeling on edge, trouble sleeping, scattered thoughts, and even panic attacks, your anxiety may feel like it has taken over your life. I specialize in treating unmanageable anxiety by providing the skills necessary to understand anxiety and deal with those pesky anxiety symptoms.
Going through traumatic experiences can make you feel out of control of everything: your thoughts, emotions, reactions, and behavior. We can feel confused and afraid to tell our stories. This often leads to feelings of helpless, isolation, and shame. Through competent trauma therapy, you can gain the support and strategies you need to manage overwhelming emotions & sensations and create a sense of safety in your body again.
As relational creatures, our connections with others can bring us great joy and meaning. Yet, relationships can be a source of struggle for many. Whether your relational issues show up as anxiety about interacting with others, loneliness, navigating conflict, or difficulty maintaining relationships, engaging in therapy can help you develop the insights and tools necessary to improve your relationships.
Do identify as a people pleaser? Do you constantly feel like you sacrifice your needs to take care of others? Do you find yourself preoccupied with managing other people's emotions? Do you often feel burnt out and resentful in your relationships? If so, you may have unaddressed codependent patterns. Through therapy, I can help you develop new relational patterns where you can connect and advocate for your needs as well as improve boundary setting.
Stress & Life Transitions
Life is full of transitions and the uncertainty that can arise when change occurs. Sometimes we may feel especially vulnerable in theses transitions and even notice old emotional patterns emerging. Although this is completely normal, having a space to process and find new ways of coping can be highly needed. I am passionate about helping others navigate and feel less alone during stressful life transitions.
